About the armor sets
As of title update #2 we can't make unique armor set for Insect Glaive; as such, they will use the same generic one that SnS also uses.
Ground VS Aerial Playstile
Aerial theoretically deals more status/elemental damage than ground; while ground is more raw damage.
However, especially in the latest iteration of IG, you are probably going to mix the two, using aerial option to dodge and counter attack (+ the really powerful silkbinds) and stay on the ground for the rest of the time to optimize WEX and other offensive skills.
About the kinsect
EVERY KINSECT HAS ITS OWN PLACE
As of TU 2 especially, tagging one kinsect as "superior in every cirmustance" is straight up WRONG.
However we can say the following 2 are the most generally used.
- Dual Type (Defense) --> cause it removes the necessity of grabbing orange (that is usually the hardest to get), that means less time spent looking for extra AND the assist type naturally helps with damage
- Blast/Heal (Poweder) --> To abuse the new vortex powder move and also helps with cheap damage
